Item Description:
These are original stock certificates for the Little Miami Railroad Company of southwestern Ohio. They are all dated around the early 1890s, and were used to prove ownership of capital stock. Each one has been issued and later cancelled, with clearly printed dates and signatures.
The Little Miami Railroad Company was incorporated in 1836, and became an important transportation route connecting the Ohio River to the Great Lakes for over a century. It continued to operate until 1981, when it merged with a larger railroad. Today, the former Little Miami route still exists as a scenic bike trail.
The stock certificate comes with a rigid archival document holder for preservation and handling. A Certificate of Authenticity is also included.
NOTE: This certificate has no value as a financial asset, and will not be honored by any extant company today.
