Item Description:

These silver drachms date to the rule of Vijayasena (238 - 250 CE), as revealed by the coins' inscriptions. They measure approximately 15 mm in diameter, and each comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

The Western Satraps were a group of Indo-Scythian (or Saka) rulers that controlled western and central India between 35 and 405 CE. The coins they struck accurately reflect their Indo-Greek culture, combining stylistically Greek portraits and lettering with Buddhist symbolism. The Saka rulers would eventually succumb to the rival Gupta Empire in the 4th century CE.
