Indo-Scythia was a region ruled by the Scythians from the 2nd century BCE to the 4th century CE, in what is now modern-day Afghanistan, Pakistan, and parts of India. Despite their nomadic origins, the Indo-Scythians adapted to sedentary life, establishing urban centers and engaging in trade along key routes that connected the Mediterranean world with Central and South Asia.

After Alexander the Great's conquests, the region’s culture changed dramatically with the arrival of Hellenistic influences. Like other powers that rose in the East after Alexander, the Indo-Scythians adopted many aspects of Greek culture, which became closely integrated into their own art, language, and coinage. This cultural blending is especially clear in their coins, which often featured Greek inscriptions alongside Scythian imagery, and showed rulers dressed in Greek-style clothing or accompanied by familiar Hellenistic symbols like Nike or Athena.
