This volume is from a series of novels set during the transitional period of the Muromachi and Sengoku periods, with a storyline that revolves around themes of revenge. The narrative weaves together various independent episodes and anecdotes related to Osaka's wealthy merchants into a cohesive revenge tale. One of the significant elements in the story is the involvement of a spirit fox (霊狐), which connects the different narrative threads.
Japanese books are read right to left (instead of left to right) and are bound on the right side, contrary to those in Western languages. The pages may be double layered, and care must be taken to ensure that they do not separate when flipping through. The book must be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and out of reach of bugs.
