Item Description:

Banknote Info:

These five 50 sen notes, equal to half of one Japanese yen, were issued by the Japanese government from 1942 to 1945. The front shows Yasukuni Shrine, a Shinto shrine in Tokyo that commemorates those who died fighting for Japan. These notes would have been circulated during World War II, and the condition of the paper suggests that they did indeed see actual use.
