  • Notes: Memnon of Rhodes was a prominent Greek commander who defended the Persian Achaemenid Empire against Alexander the Great. Coins of Memnon were issued in Lampsakos, Mysia, which bore the image of the sun god Helios and a rose—a design that mimicked coins from Memnon's home city of Rhodes.
