• Notes: This coin is the core of a fourrée, an ancient forgery designed to resemble a solid silver coin. However, the silver plating is no longer present, and all that remains is the copper core. Counterfeiters produced these coins to mimic the appearance of genuine silver currency and profit from the deception. On this particular coin, the thin silver plating has chipped in places, exposing the copper core beneath.
