Each ring is custom made by our production partner MariMar Galleria. Please allow up to three weeks for your order to be handcrafted! Please note that returns are not accepted for these items, due to their custom made nature.
These resin inlay rings contain genuine fragments of a Japanese officer sword (or guntō) from World War II! Though mostly ceremonial, these blades were standard issue for officers of a certain rank in the Japanese armed forces.
Also inlaid in this ring is black sand from the beaches of Iwo Jima, the site of the infamous Battle of Iwo Jima. This battle proved a pivotal win for American forces, as the island became a base for Allied air operations.
It's important to note that the sword used in these rings was already cut into pieces when we acquired it. Many Japanese swords, both antique and WWII-era, were unfortunately destroyed by the Allied forces at the end of the war. Later restrictions on bladed weapons put into place by the Japanese government caused further destruction of swords, and as a result there is a surplus of sword fragments today (see our other listing to buy some).
This item is a History Hoard exclusive and is produced in collaboration with Mari Mar Galleria, a Pennsylvania based creator of custom rings. Check out their website here: www.marimargalleria.com.
