These are two complete issues of The European Magazine, published in March and May of 1794 in London. They were likely taken a larger hardcover book that contained all the issues from the first six months of the year, which the magazine published semi-annually.
The magazine was launched in 1782 and promised to offer "the Literature, History, Politics, Arts, Manners, and Amusements of the Age." One of its direct competitors was The Gentleman's Magazine, a copy of which is also up for sale in today's auction. The European Magazine was absorbed by a larger publication in 1826.
These specific issues contain multiple engravings and measure approximately 5.5 inches by 8.5 inches.
