These two Japanese books are titled Small Military Dictionary (軍事小典, Gunji Shohten Jo) and were produced by the Japanese Naval Academy in 1868. This was the beginning of Japan's Meiji era, during which imperial rule was restored and the nation began to modernize into a world power.
While most of the pages in these books is taken up by text, there are illustrated foldout diagrams in the last few pages of the second volume.
A Certificate of Authenticity accompanies these books.
These books are in excellent condition, with only minor wear to the outer covers and no major tears or stains present on the pages. The binding is still very strong, though they may have been rebound at some point.
Japanese books are read right to left (instead of left to right) and are bound on the right side, contrary to those in Western languages. The pages may be double layered, and care must be taken to ensure that they do not separate when flipping through.
Keep these books pristine: they MUST be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and out of reach of bugs!
