This flag measures about 32 by 28 inches. It was imported directly from a Japanese antique dealer and is very well preserved. Loosely translated, the two large characters say "certain victory," the line on the right side says "congratulations Mr. Onoda Hisasuke," and the bottom left says "workers of Yamamoto Factory."

Background Info:

Good luck flags were a traditional parting gift to Japanese servicemen during World War II. They were traditionally presented to servicemen during induction or before deployment. Friends, family and co-workers would sign the flag to celebrate the man’s military service, usually signed with a calligraphy brush pen. The flags served as reminders of those left at home, as well as good luck charms thought to ward off danger. This flag is signed by friends and coworkers with messages of encouragement for a soldier’s upcoming deployment.

A signed Certificate of Authenticity will accompany your purchase. You will receive the exact item shown in the photos above.
