Elizabeth I was the daughter of the infamous Henry VIII and his second wife Anne Boleyn, in the English royal House of Tudor. Though Elizabeth was declared an illegitimate child of Henry the VIII after he had her mother executed, Elizabeth eventually ascended to the English throne anyway after a few of her half siblings ruled and met early deaths.
Elizabeth grew in popularity with her subjects over her forty year reign, bringing stability to the ruling powers that many had been craving. She was known for being a moderate ruler on the whole, with relatively relaxed views on religion and cautious foreign policy.
