AUCTION ENDS SATURDAY, JUNE 11TH AT 3PM PST
Engineer's Names: W. R. Gelston and G. A. Stone
Date: 1904 to 1906
Location: Bighorn Railroad and other locations in Wyoming
Description: Field books were used by railroad engineers to take notes as they surveyed the land for railroad construction. These books included vital information that described the lay of the land like topography and cross section notes. Some books also contain information on the placement of future railroad tracks, such as line, level, and switch notes. Each of these books was highly unique to the engineer that wrote in them, and no two are alike.
This specific set of three books appear to be related due to similar stamping on the cover, handwriting, and dates. Only one book has the names of the engineers, and another book is missing the specific location but is assumed to be Wyoming as well.
Our books were originally archived in the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy (CB&Q) Lines West Engineering Office Field Book Files.
