Title: Elementary School Reading Book: Vol 6 (尋常小學讀本:巻六)
Publication Year: Meiji 43 (1910)
Description: This textbook was printed during the Meiji era, a period marked by Japan's rapid modernization as it joined the world stage after centuries of near total isolation. Many of the illustrations in books from this era feature Japanese people in western style clothing, which was a significant change compared to the previous Edo period.
Care Instructions: Japanese books are read right to left (instead of left to right) and are bound on the right side, contrary to those in Western languages. The pages may be double layered, and care must be taken to ensure that they do not separate when flipping through. The book must be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and out of reach of bugs.
