Background Info:

This four pence note was printed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania after a March 20th, 1777 act of the General Assembly, and is a living example of Revolutionary War history. Both the Continental Congress and individual state governments began issuing paper bills like this in 1775 to fund the war effort.

However, these notes were overproduced and quickly lost their value—and covert counterfeiting operations by the British only made this worse. Very few of them have survived to the present day though, making them highly sought after collectible items.

Item Details:

This note is very fragile (it's printed on paper that's almost 250 years old!), so we've encased it in an acid-free, UV resistant acrylic display case. It should be kept out of direct sunlight so that the ink does not fade, and the note itself should not be handled unless absolutely necessary. More detailed care instructions will be included with the item.

The note has been thoroughly inspected and is guaranteed genuine. A signed Certificate of Authenticity will accompany your purchase. You will receive the exact item shown in the photos above.
