This original silver tetradrachm was minted between 328 and 320 BCE, during the lifetime of Alexander the Great (or shortly after his death in 324 BCE). It was struck in the city of Ardos, now known as Arwad, Syria in the modern day. The reverse side of this coin is particularly well preserved, showing a seated Zeus surrounded by the legend "ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ" (King Alexander).
This coin was obtained by History Hoard from a private collection, with provenance tracing to the United Kingdom. It weights 16 grams and has a diameter of 26mm at its widest point.
The coin comes encased in a fully removeable plastic holder to provide optimal protection. A signed Certificate of Authenticity will accompany your purchase. You will receive the exact item shown in the photos above. A display case is also included.
