Origin: These coins are dated 1729 to 1754 and were issued under King George II, who ruled over the British Empire during the buildup to the American Revolution. He was also the father of the infamous King George III.
These coins are significantly worn but still have some detail, so we're offering them at a discount! The obverse shows the bust of King George II and the reverse varies, showing a seated Britannia (the symbolic personification of Britain) on U.K. issues and a Gaelic harp on Irish ones.
Copper coins like these were very important to the economy of the American colonies, as the British had banned them from minting their own or importing silver and gold coins from Britain. As a result, these copper pieces would have been commonplace before the colonies gained independence.
